homage to Edward Steichen
exhibition at fotodiskurs, June 16 – June 30

Exactly 88 years after Edward Steichen was the first artist to exhibit his own flower hybrids (Delphinium) at the MOMA in New York, Christof Rehm is showing his white lady's slipper orchids, which he has bred over many years, at fotodiskurs in Augsburg. In the exhibition, he combines the living plants with his current paintings. White flowers meet black paintings.
But can cultivated plants even be pieces of art? Are orchids –as products from the laboratory– still nature? Do they bring new qualities to the exhibition in their fading nature? And what does this show actually has to do with photography?
